One of my issues is that I might do a sample of something and then I have to try it in different sizes, colours and other variations. I can never leave things alone. In the March class I had a cylinder filled with small eggs. That was fun to make. Initially I used acetate with sticky strip but the acetate I used was a tad too thick. After I made the cylinder (which the acetate didn’t want to bend for me, but I wasn’t going to let it win) I put the eggs in it and left it standing. About 30 minutes later I heard a “pop” sound and the side split open and most of the eggs fell out. It was quite funny to watch. So, not to be defeated I tried again with different tape, and 2 strips of it. That held for about 40 mins. Third time lucky, changed from acetate to overhead transparency and it has stayed stuck.Yay, I won!
So after that adventure I decided to try and to make a cylinder for the slightly larger hollow eggs. It started off ok but then I realised more of an oval shape was needed, so as much as I used circles for the lid and base, the transparency was easier to manipulate and sit within them. I am not overly thrilled with the results but it is ok.
Raspberry Tart was the designer print with the Eggcoutrements set for the lid.
I didn’t create this treat tube but I can not locate the creator to give her full credit for being so talented.
Wow, it has been a long time between posts. My computer, I hope, is now fully repaired. It has been so long between posts I had even forgotten my user name.
This card is waaaaaaaay outside my comfort level. When I first saw this flower being made I thought , nope, that isn’t for me, but as time went on I saw more and more samples and I think they grew on me. I am not sure what the flowers are actually called but I may even do some more cards with them.
I used Tea Party papers with Pretty in pink and very vanilla. I used the greetings from the sale – a – bration set. That will be one set that won’t be put away after March 31st.
For those who haven’t seen these flowers, take a strip of 12″ x 1″ designer print (great for scraps) and use the eyelet border along one side. Run the strip of paper through a crimper 2 or 3 times so that the paper is more flexible. Cover a 1 1/4″ circle with sticky strip. Peel off the protective strip and start working the strip around the circle. I used a large brad in the centre, but buttons, pearls etc can be used.
I have often been asked why I got rid of a lot of my old stash to buy Stampin’ Up! stuff and continually the answer is – the colours. Everything goes with everything and I don’t have to think . This card came together quickly once I had chosen the designer print paper. This card map is one I often use – simple and quick.
Since I am so organised Easter will be this month’s topic. One Easter card and two containers to hold eggs.
The side “tube” holds mini eggs and the basket on the right holds a 100g Easter egg. Eggs are included in this class.
Bookings are essential for this class so I have enough eggs for everyone.
3D Classes This time it will be the cantilever box. I made one of these for Christmas last year and I have had requests on how to make them. When booking please let me know if you want to use Haiku, kaleidoscope or raspberry tart designer prints.
These boxes can hold lots of different goodies.
Here is the link to the one I made in December out of Haiku designer prints.

Wow what a busy week I have had – computer crash and lots of visitors. This meant very little creating happening. So here is a quick card.
Whilst playing with the layout, I happened to place the horizontal strip on top of the scallop circle. I liked the appearance instead of having all 3 circles layered together and on top of the strip. So easy.
I like “bling” so I added 2 rhinestones to the centre of the butterfly. The butterfly is raised with dimensionals.
Recipe:
Stamps: Butterfly Prints, Whimsical words (sale a bration)
Ink: Riding Hood Red
Card: Whisper white, riding hood red, riding hood red designer prints
Accessories : butterfly punch, 1 1/4″ circle, 1 3/8″ circle, 2″ scalloped circle punch, 1 3/4″ circle punch, dimensionals, rhinestones

When I first saw the ” Vintage labels” set, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with these stamps. I had already begun playing with ribbon weaving using the 1/4 ” grosgrain ribbon. These patterns actually came from a quilting book. I wanted more elegance than a casual look so stuck to my favourite colour combo of black and white. All greetings were stamped inside the frames with the aid of a stamp a ma jig. All frames were attached using dimensionals.
The first card is doing the basic weaving that was taught in primary school. I stamped the round medallion and then cut around it.
With this card I stamped the curly label frame and trimmed off the outer frame. I then punched out a black piece of card using the curly label punch. The stamped frame was attached to the punched frame.
The wide oval frame was used on the following card.
A third colour was added to the weaving – real red. The scallop medallion was cut out and then layered onto a white scallop punched circle.
With the final card black gingham ribbon replaced the white ribbon.
I hope you enjoyed seeing some different types of ribbon weaving, yes it is time consuming but I had fun doing it.
Well, that’s all from me. Now you’re off to enjoy the wonderful creations of Ruth. Thanks for stopping by!
Wow, another hectic week. Really looking forward to some spare time so I can play. Will definitely have to find time tomorrow to finish off my cards for the blog hop.
Upsy Daisy became one of my early favourites when the 2009 – 2010 Idea and catalogue book was released in Australia last year. Of course the Fresh Cut Notes had to be used. I do enjoy making bags/boxes/totes etc to hold sets of cards.
I used all the new in colours – Riding hood red, Tangerine Tango, Pacific point, Baja Breeze and Kiwi kiss. All the ribbons (white taffeta) were dyed with the co-ordinating ink pad and a dauber. A bit messy but at least everything matched. The upsy daisy stamp was white embossed on the card under the fresh note cut out. Shades of the colour were used in the centre. These sets were quite quick to make and certainly look different with the pre cut cards.
A close up of one of the cards:
Recipe:

On Monday 22nd February (6 a.m.) I will be involved in another blog hop with my team. This time we will all be focusing on the free stamps sets that can be earned when you spend over $100 in one transaction. Hope you will join us on the blog hop and be inspired with all the wonderful creations.
I often spend way too long on making cards – mind you I do love taking my time but I need to do cards that are quicker so that if there is an upcoming occasion I might be on time rather than late. So here is a card using Ocean Commotion. I did a similar card in a class last year (I will post it soon) but this is a much simpler method.
I also want to start using my wheels, part of my stash that just aren’t being utilized. I used the dots (retired, I know, but was brand new till this morning) for the base. The width of the pumpkin pie strip was just right for the square scallop punch. For once I didn’t do more mounting on the stamped images. So I am going to challenge myself each week and try and do a simple / quicker card.
Recipe:
Stamp set : Ocean Commotion
Paper: Bashful Blue, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green, Whisper White
Ink : Bashful Blue, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Dot wheel, square scallop punch
I am the first to admit I lack imagination. When I look at a punch I see a circle, a tag, oval etc. I am in such awe of these very talented ladies who come up with these ideas. So I have cased the following 2 concepts.
The golf bag appealed instantly as it is always difficult for me with male cards and I know of a couple of males this would be just right for. The instructions are from the talented Lynn Pratt (Stamp-n-design) who likes a lot of cutting and 3D.
I found it a little fiddly, but I think the effort was worth it. I used Basic gray, going gray and black.
Apparently Lynn saw someone who had created the golf bag but she went one more step and added the cart.
And finally :
I saw this Leprachaun and for some reason just had to make him – so easy. All information came from Ruth’s Stamping Corner. How she came up with all this I don’t know but she is certainly very imaginative.
Stampin’Up colours used are Glorious green, gable green, summer sun, basic black, blush blossom, ruby red and pretty in pink.
Here he is with a pot of gold, pity it isn’t real
Finally I added a shamrock made of hearts.
Isn’t he such a happy litle leprachaun – at least I am ready (and early) for St Patrick’s Day. Yay.
Just before I race off to watch Gray’s Anatomy (after watching Australia win the cricket today against the Windies), I thought I would leave you with a silly photo of Chase and one of his sleeping positions.
Cheers
Rob
(yes he is on top of a bag of plastic test tubes – nothing is sacred in this house anymore)
Last week my daughter decided to buy herself her Christmas present with the money she had been given in December. So what did she buy?
A little male puppy – 11 weeks old – cross labrador and boxer. I love Boxers – have had 2 in the past, they are dopey animals who don’t grow up but very affectionate. This little thing is black with a white bottom lip, tiny tips of white on his paws and white markings on his chest. His name is Chase.
I forgot how much work little puppies can be!! I have 2 other little dogs but my DD wanted a larger dog to walk and play with, not “rats” as she refers to my babies. I am not happy with his name as he is already living up to it and chases my dogs around, which they object to. Oh well, things are starting to settling down now.
I have done some punching as I am wanting to complete my books on punches. I will post some of my punched images tomorrow.
