I decided to play with the beautiful designer print papers when my original idea didn’t work (read more about this in the third project).  Cottage Wall is fantastic, especially with the Rich Razzleberry. I have already had a lot of  fun using these colours with my cards.

I made a cantilever box. I have always had an “issue” with this box in that I never thought it was fully finished. I now have feet and a handle. The handle is quite simple, I did want something that was a bit “more” but  the reality of doing this in classes often means the old k.i.s. (keep it simple). So the handle used the eyelet border punch and helps to keep the bottom box lids’ closed. The base was done totally with Rich Razzleberry, layered with orchid opulence and then Cottage wall patterned paper.  Enjoy the following photos.

I was very excited when I saw Soft Suede as it will be a great addition to the autumn/male colours. I often am stumped with creating male items so these colours will hopefully inspire me. This box was designed by the most talented Becky Roberts during the UStamp New Year Blowout. Using Autumn Traditions and the new in colour Soft Suede I made a more masculine looking box. A larger gift can be placed in the top part of the box (the scalloped lid is just lifted off) and little goodies can be placed in the drawer that is in the bottom section. I have made 5 small cards just so I could play a little more with the papers. I used inks and card stock to match the Autumn Traditions – Always Artichoke, Elegant Eggplant, Ruby Red, More Mustard, Soft Suede and Sahara Sand (this is part of the background with some of the papers). Also punches were used – 1 3/8 ” square punch,  1 1/4  ” square punch, Curly label Punch and Scallop square punch.
I think this box might become a handy standby, especially since it can be made “masculine”  and is very quick to make – this was made in the car (from the cutting out to full assembly) whilst I waited for my DD who was at an appointment. Believe it or not but the mini cards were made at McDonalds this morning also whilst I was waiting for my DD. So if some of the layering isn’t looking too straight you know why.

Finally this is a template I purchased from an English website a couple of years ago. Haven’t made anything with it until now. I had originally thought to having  used animals from Wild About You stamp set ( but like everything, I haven’t gotten around to it) so whilst browsing through my files I stumbled upon it again and I thought that I could use the  animals from Fox and Friends. However the animals were too small but I decided to keep making the project to highlight the Cottage Wall designer paper and Rich Razzleberry card stock. It was easy to just pick colours as everything just matches perfectly. I haven’t put anything in the box at the base as I would like to have something quite girlie. Hope you like the Carousel.

Late Valentines Card

Well, I was super early for St Patrick’s Day when I did the punched leprechaun so I think that makes up for the lateness of this card. That excuse works for me.

When I first saw the Always set, the heart jumped out at me. One of the most elegant hearts I have seen. I wanted to keep the elegance of the heart and not have too much to distract from the focal point. So onto one of my other interests in papercrafting is sewing. I found this  simple background and used  variegated thread.

IMG_0350

To keep the simplicity I used Rose Red  and Whisper White ink to stamp the hearts on their opposite coloured card, cut out the hearts and then mounted them.  The greeting from short and sweet also used Rose Red and punched out with the small oval and layered on large oval punched out of Rose Red card. The card is  layered on whisper white and Rose Red.

IMG_0351This is a close up to show how easy this background is to do. Looking forward to creating more cards incorporating sewing and stamping.

Blog Hop

I will be participating in the next blog hop using the new stamps and accessories available in the upcoming Autumn Winter Mini. Nikki Stalker was very creative and created the blinkie that is now on my side bar. I am always amazed what people can do with the computer. Hope you can join us on the blog hop as it is always exciting to see other people’s creations

Open House and A Quick Card

I cannot believe it has been this long in between posts. Wow. Life has just become so busy and time is flying. I can prove that my time has just been disappearing as I have only just started stamping today with the new stamps I ordered a fortnight ago (one advantage of being a demonstrator). Wow is all I can say, especially with the one I played with today – the Medallion stamp.

Before I show you today’s card I am having an open house to launch the new autumn winter mini. It is a delicious catalogue, with something for everyone.

when? Sunday 28th March 2010

drop in anytime between 2pm and 5 pm. Stay for as long as you like.

There will be a couple of make and takes, afternoon tea and lots of laughs.

Where? Quakers Hill

Please RSVP  by 27th March if you would like to attend ( will give you address then)

Here is the quick card:

IMG_0347

I used pumpkin pie as the base,  Stampin Up’s new polka dots texture plate for the dots, Washington Apple d/p and Party Hearty cupcake. The 1 3/4″ white circle was added to highlight the cupcake.  Quick and easy!

I will try and do more posts this week

Easter Treat

One of my issues is that I might do a sample of something and then I have to try it in different sizes, colours and other variations. I can never leave things alone. In the March class I had a cylinder filled with small eggs. That was fun to make. Initially I used acetate with sticky strip but the acetate I used was a tad too thick. After I made the cylinder (which the acetate didn’t want to bend for me, but I wasn’t going to let it win) I put the eggs in it and left it standing. About 30 minutes later I heard a “pop” sound and the side split open and most of the eggs fell out. It was quite funny to watch. So, not to be defeated I tried again with different tape, and 2 strips of it. That held for about 40 mins. Third time lucky, changed from acetate to overhead transparency and it has stayed stuck.Yay, I won!

IMG_0341

So after that adventure I decided to try and to make a cylinder for the slightly larger hollow eggs. It started off ok but then I realised more of an oval shape was needed, so as much as I used circles for the lid and base, the transparency was easier to manipulate and sit within them. I am not overly thrilled with the results but it is ok.

IMG_0339

Raspberry Tart was the designer print with the Eggcoutrements set for the lid.

I didn’t create this treat tube but I can not locate the creator to give her full credit for being so talented.

Another Quick Card

Wow, it has been a long time between posts. My computer, I hope, is now fully repaired. It has been so long between posts I had even forgotten my user name.

This card is waaaaaaaay outside my comfort level. When I first saw this flower being made I thought , nope, that isn’t for me, but as time went on I saw more and more samples and I think they grew on me.  I am not sure what the flowers are actually called but I  may even do some more cards with them.

I used Tea Party papers with Pretty in pink and very vanilla. I used the greetings from the sale – a – bration set. That will be one set that won’t be put away after March 31st.

IMG_0334

For those who haven’t seen these flowers, take a strip of 12″ x 1″  designer print (great for scraps) and use the eyelet border along one side. Run the strip of paper through a crimper 2 or 3 times so that the paper is more flexible. Cover a 1 1/4″ circle with sticky strip. Peel off the protective strip and start working the strip around the circle. I used a large brad in the centre,  but buttons,  pearls etc can be used.

IMG_0336 I have often been asked why I got rid of a lot of my old stash to buy Stampin’ Up! stuff and continually the answer is – the colours. Everything goes with everything and I don’t have to think . This card came together quickly once I had chosen the designer print paper.  This card map is one I often use – simple and quick.

Another quick and easy card

Wow what a busy week I have had – computer crash and lots of visitors. This meant very little creating happening. So here is a quick card.

IMG_0328

Whilst playing with the layout, I happened to place the horizontal strip on top of the scallop circle.  I liked the appearance instead of having all 3 circles layered together and on top of the strip. So  easy.

IMG_0330

I like “bling”  so I added 2 rhinestones to the centre of the butterfly. The butterfly is raised with dimensionals.

Recipe:

Stamps: Butterfly Prints, Whimsical words (sale a bration)

Ink:  Riding Hood Red

Card: Whisper white, riding hood red, riding hood red designer prints

Accessories : butterfly punch, 1 1/4″ circle, 1 3/8″ circle, 2″ scalloped circle punch, 1 3/4″ circle punch,  dimensionals, rhinestones

Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop

Welcome to the 2nd Stampers Anonymous SU blog tour! This time round we will be showcasing the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets. The Sale-A-Bration stamp sets are FREE sets you can earn for every $100 purchased till 31st March. You may have just come from Lorna’s blog, but if you are starting here, don’t worry … you can make the complete circuit just by following the links at the end of each post. There are 9 stops along the way and we hope you will visit each one to see the wonderful creations we have to show you!

At the end of each post there will be a link to take you to the next stop on the tour. Feel free to “share the love” and leave a comment! So sit back, relax and enjoy!

When I first saw the  ” Vintage labels”  set, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with these stamps. I had already begun playing with ribbon weaving using the 1/4 ” grosgrain ribbon. These patterns  actually came from a quilting book. I wanted more elegance than a casual look so stuck to my favourite colour combo of black and white. All greetings were stamped inside the frames  with the aid of a stamp a ma jig. All frames were attached using dimensionals.

The first card is doing the basic weaving that was taught in primary school.  I stamped the round medallion and then cut around it.

IMG_0313

With this card I stamped the curly label frame and trimmed off the outer frame. I then  punched out a black piece of card using the curly label punch.  The stamped frame was  attached to the punched frame.

IMG_0314

The wide oval frame was used on the following card.

IMG_0307

A third colour was added to the weaving – real red. The scallop medallion was cut out and then layered onto a white scallop punched circle.IMG_0310

With the final card black gingham ribbon replaced the white ribbon.IMG_0312

I hope you enjoyed seeing some different types of ribbon weaving, yes it is time consuming but I had fun doing it.

Well, that’s all from me. Now you’re off to enjoy the wonderful creations of Ruth. Thanks for stopping by!

cheers

Fresh Cut Notes

Wow, another hectic week. Really looking forward to some spare time so I can play. Will definitely have to find time tomorrow to finish off my cards for the blog hop.

Upsy Daisy became one of my early favourites when the 2009 – 2010 Idea and catalogue book was released in Australia last year. Of course the Fresh Cut Notes had to be used. I do enjoy making bags/boxes/totes etc to hold sets of cards.

IMG_0288

I used all the new in colours – Riding hood red, Tangerine Tango, Pacific point, Baja Breeze and Kiwi kiss. All the ribbons (white taffeta) were dyed with the co-ordinating ink pad and a dauber. A bit messy but at least everything matched. The upsy daisy stamp was white embossed on the card under the fresh note cut out. Shades of the colour were used in the centre. These sets were quite quick to make and certainly look different with the pre cut cards.

A close up of one of the cards:

IMG_0289 Recipe:

Stamps : Upsy Daisy

Cards : Fresh cut notes, Riding hood red, Tangerine Tango, Pacific point, Kiwi kiss, Baja Breeze, Whisper white

Inks : Riding hood red, Tangerine Tango, Pacific point, Baja Breeze and Kiwi kiss

Accessories: daubers, white taffetta ribbon, baja breeze ribbon

Cheers
